Here are some frequently asked questions:
What is Chargehound?
Chargehound helps online merchants fight chargeback fraud by streamlining the chargeback response process. Chargeback fraud, or “friendly” fraud, can be time-consuming and frustrating, typically resulting in lost revenue. If you process online credit card payments, Chargehound can save you time by automating your dispute process and winning back lost charges. Simply create an account on Chargehound to use our dashboard and/or integrate with our API - we'll make responding to friendly fraud significantly more effective than the typical, manual response process.
How does Chargehound work?
After you register with Chargehound and connect your payment processor account, we'll work with you to build a templated response to your chargebacks. The template will detail each step of the purchasing process, presenting evidence that the purchase was valid and the customer's dispute was unwarranted.
Once your template is ready, you'll be able to use our dashboard or API to submit extensive and customized documentation for each and every dispute you receive - effortlessly.
Why does Chargehound require access to my payment processor?
We require access in order to submit disputes automatically. We will never create, edit, or delete charges or customers, and you can terminate our access at any time.
How do I integrate Chargehound's API?
Piece of cake! We provide extensive integration documentation as well as a full API reference.
How much does it cost to use Chargehound?
It's easy to get started with Chargehound - go ahead and give it a spin! We only charge a percentage fee on the dollar amount of chargebacks that are settled in your favor, but we do ask for a minimum commitment of $1,000 per month. For billing details, Chargehound users can check out their payment page. If you're not yet a Chargehound user and would like more information about pricing, shoot us an email at disputeautomationsupport@paypal.com
Will this help with Stolen Credit Card fraud?
Sorry, no. The use of stolen cards is something merchants need to prevent before the transaction occurs. Chargehound is designed to help you fight chargeback fraud after a purchase is made.
Will I win more disputes with Chargehound?
If you have designed a solid dispute response template, have good customer service practices, and clearly communicate your terms of use and refund policy, Chargehound will save you a significant amount of time and money. We can't guarantee that you will win more disputes by using Chargehound, but we certainly will make your dispute process more effortless and efficient.
Does Chargehound work with other payment providers?
Right now, Chargehound works with disputes and chargebacks that are processed through Braintree, PayPal, Stripe, Adyen, Vantiv, Worldpay, Chase and AMEX. However, if you use Paymentech, Square, Authorize.NET, or any other payment processor, please let us know so we can prioritize adding them.
